What looks like tiny antlers but belongs to a beetle? The Cute Stag Beetle Coloring Page introduces children to a fascinating insect with oversized curved jaws, a rounded shell, and six little legs. Its unusual appearance makes it fun to color and compare with the Cute Rhinoceros Beetle Coloring Page, which features a different kind of head ornament.
Those impressive jaws are called mandibles. Male stag beetles use them when competing with other males, much like tiny wrestlers! Children can experiment with dark brown, reddish brown, or imaginative rainbow colors for the shell and body. The simple woodland surroundings provide a few extra details without making the picture too complicated.
Look closely at the beetle’s curved mandibles. Do they remind you of deer antlers or something completely different? Encourage children to describe what they see, count the legs, and invent a name for their new insect friend while coloring.
